Sesame Baked Tofu

Ingredients

  • 1 pound extra-firm tofu

Marinade Ingredients

  • 2 T soy sauce
  • 2 T honey (or agave nectar)
  • 1 T sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger

Instructions

Getting Started

  1. Cut open the tofu package and put the tofu into a colander.
  2. Rinse the tofu under running water.
  3. Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.
  4. Using a knife, cut the tofu into 8 slices.

Pat dry the tofu

  1. Fold an absorbent kitchen towel and add a layer of 3-5 paper towels on top of the kitchen towel.
  2. Put the tofu slices on top of the paper towels.
  3. Add another layer of paper towels on top of the tofu slices and press.
  4. After you have removed a significant amount of moisture, transfer the tofu to a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

Marinate and bake the tofu

  1. Mix the marinade ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Use a pastry brush to add marinade to the tops of the tofu slices.
  3. Put the tofu in the oven and bake it for 25 minutes.
  4. Take the tofu out of the oven and use a spatula to turn over the slices.
  5. Add marinade to the tops of the tofu slices and sprinkle some sesame seeds on top of the slices.
  6. Put the tofu in the oven and bake it for 25 minutes.
  7. Remove the baked tofu from the oven and put on a cooling rack to cool.

Notes

In this recipe, we cut the tofu into 8 slices, but you can cut it into smaller sizes if you want.
